Is Jon Moxley a Good Guy?

Jon Moxley made his unannounced return to All Elite Wrestling last night on Dynamite.

Coming out to his New Japan Pro Wrestling music in a plain black sweater and olive pants, head clean shaven, it wasn’t set up as if it was planned for him to come out. Tony Schiavone tried to interview Moxley and none of his questions were answered. And more questions were raised.

Moxley was very cryptic, saying he had been doing a lot of thinking. Came here to have a tête-à-tête with Darby Allin, a man nothing like him but everything like him. Moxley looked like he was about to leave after calling Darby out before stopping Tony and speaking cryptically more.

“It’s going to take some time for everybody to wrap their brains around this but we’re going to start right now, okay? Listen to me. This is not your company any more.”

Moxley left the ring leaving everyone to wonder exactly what he meant by his comments. The internet was full of theories.

Was it Shane McMahon coming in to take over All Elite Wrestling?

Was Jon Moxley bringing Sami Callihan’s REVOLVER to AEW?

Was Jon Moxley doing the work of Josh Barnett and bringing BLOODSPORT to AEW?

The REVOLVER/BLOODSPORT theories come from a later segment when Marina Shafir joined Jon Moxley to beat up some security backstage. Shafir’s number one supporter in interviews has been Jon Moxley, as he has also helped her get booked on REVOLVER and BLOODSPORT.

The Shane McMahon theory comes from Tony Khan meeting with Shane McMahon once in an airport. I guess RAW UNDERGROUND would be something Jon Moxley might enjoy and they think it’s all connected? I guess anything is possible. But the mistake might be they think Jon Moxley was talking to Tony Khan at all when he was pointing at Tony Schiavone.

“This is not your company anymore” could also be directed to The Elite.

Moxley coming to call out Darby Allin, not come out to Wild Thing, and having Marina Shafir beat up backstage security all feels like the actions of a man coming in with villainous intentions. Moxley is positioning himself as an antagonist with these actions. But he also promised us that this is a mystery, and intentionally one.

“It’s going to take some time for everybody to wrap their heads around this” tells me what we see right now isn’t what the final picture is going to look like. Paint is not on the canvas. We haven’t even had the lines drawn. We do not have a complete picture of what Jon Moxley is planning.

Darby Allin is nothing like Jon Moxley, but also everything like him. Could that actually mean he’s looking for Darby to align with him? Or punish him from failing All Elite Wrestling?

Team Elite lost the Blood and Guts match but all Team AEW asked for in return was Darby to get a match with Jack Perry which he lost. Darby’s loss moved right into Jack Perry being able to move to the front of the line and challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW Men’s World Heavyweight Championship. He has a win against Danielson at Anarchy in the Arena and now a win against the number one contender. Elite have the upper hand.

They also still have championships on everyone’s waists. Claudio couldn’t beat Kazuchika Okada in Cardif. Darby Allin couldn’t beat Jack Perry in the Coffin match. The Young Bucks walked out victorious as AEW World Tag Champions. One could also consider Mercedes Moné part of The Elite at this point and she too stayed TBS Champion.

Moxley absolutely tried to give us the vibes of Scott Hall interrupting WCW Nitro to promise a war against World Championship Wrestling, but I’m not so sure if his target is the owner of AEW. I think his target could be The Elite, and he’s staying under radar by being cryptic and unclear of his true intentions.

The original purpose of Blackpool Combat Club was a baptism by blood, bleed with me and we’re brothers forever. He might be looking for Darby to do the same with him before being ready to fight side by side with him against The Elite who control AEW.

“This is not your company anymore.”

Besides, Shane McMahon? Josh Barnett? Get out of here. Terrible ideas. If either happens this whole storyline is dead in the water.

Jon Moxley leading TEAM AEW to finally break up The Elite for good and put an end to this EVP charade with Darby Allin by his side?

I don’t know where this goes in the end, but I would certainly prefer that.

Welcome back Jon. Hope you’re one of the Good guys still.
