TNT Championship
Daniel Garcia versus Jack Perry (c)

Back in September I talked about if Daniel Garcia re-signed with All Elite Wrestling instead of going to the WWE that he should immediately go towards Jack Perry and try to win the TNT Championship.

Garcia made the right decision re-signing with AEW and AEW made the right decision in having Daniel Garcia not go back at MJF in a feud but instead go after the TNT Championship and Jack Perry.

Jack Perry hasn’t exactly had a “Restore the Feeling” run as TNT Champion. It isn’t the levels of Wardlow or Sammy Guevara but it also isn’t up to Miro even. It’s a perfectly fine midcard championship run and maybe that’s what the TNT Championship needed. After the Adam Copeland run made it feel like it was a secondary World Championship it feels like it’s a proper TV title again. A stepping stone title.

Some folks don’t care for Perry as a heel champion but I do like how he’s a bit slimy and perfectly fine winning a match by count out. He’s all about caring about himself and caring about survival. Even with The Young Bucks disappearing and Okada not backing him up he’s now a lonely member of The Elite, if The Elite even exist at all anymore. But he doesn’t care. He’s still going to survive.

I think this has been a pretty well built feud, and my favourite part is absolutely when Jack Perry pointed out that once upon a time the AEW fans absolutely adored him like they adore Daniel Garcia.

That said, they really took it to a surprising level on AEW Collision when Jack Perry was assaulting Daddy Magic with a chain, looking prepared to drag him behind THE SCAPEBUS. Garcia stomped a mudhole into Jack Perry in his trunks before tying him to the front of the bus like wild game. They drove THE SCAPEBUS into a guardrail.

I don’t know if it really needed this, but it was a fun visual. It does set up that Jack Perry needs to do something to Daniel Garcia before we get to Full Gear to really put the heat on Garcia going into it. Jack Perry keeps saying he doesn’t think Daniel Garcia is ready. He needs to show he doesn’t think he’s ready before we get to Full Gear.

Whether Perry retains the championship or Daniel Garcia wins gold for the first time in AEW, I could see this going right to World’s End in a rematch. If not? Loser enters the Continental Classic.
