AEW Women’s World Championship
Mercedes Moné versus Timeless Toni Storm (c)

There is an old proverb: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” In modern media it’s simplified to, “Pride comes before the fall.”
Mercedes Moné is looking to prove it wrong.
In her debut match in All Elite Wrestling, Mercedes won the TBS Championship from Willow Nightingale. It was revenge for Willow defeating her for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship at Resurgence 2023, a match Mercedes was injured in.
The only losses Mercedes has suffered in AEW since coming to the company had her teaming with Harley Cameron, once against Athena and Julia Hart, the other Julia Hart and Kris Statlander. Outside of AEW, Mercedes did lose a three way match with Mina Shirakawa and AZM, with AZM winning the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.
Mercedes now holds the TBS Championship, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, EWA Women’s Championship, CMLL World Women’s Championship, and also carries the title she received for being the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Champion. You would think she would be content with that, but Mercedes is anything but content.
She wants it all. She wants everything she thought she deserved when she went by Sasha Banks.
Sasha was a decorated champion in WWE, winning the NXT Championship, the WWE Women’s Championship, the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship, WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship three times, and the WWE RAW Women’s Championship five times.
Her longest runs were 192 days as NXT Women’s Champion and 167 days as WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion. If you combine all of her championship runs in WWE/NXT, she has held titles in the company for 667 days between 2015 and 2022.
She has held the TBS Championship for 410 days and held the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship for 313 days. Just those two titles together, between 2024 and 2026? It surpasses any of her reigns in her time in WWE.
If you combine her current titles and remove the STRONG Championship, it almost reaches the almost of time she held all of those WWE and NXT titles combined.
Why do I break this all down? It’s to tell you that Mercedes Moné is in her prime. She’s doing her absolute best work. She’s never been this good of a wrestler, this good of a character, and this great of a champion.
And even then? She wants more.
Toni Storm didn’t have the same success in WWE. Mercedes might have had a bitterness that she was unable to hold a championship long enough to prove her value back then, but she wasn’t as mishandled like Toni Storm. Toni spent some time as WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion (231 days) but won not much else in her actual WWE run. It was a run so bad she thought about quitting professional wrestling until deciding to take a second chance in AEW.
Her second chance in AEW has led to winning the AEW Women’s World Championship a record four times, more than anyone else in the company. By Saturday she will have held those titles a combined 570 days. Unlike Mercedes who needs to prove she can win the championship of every company she steps foot in? Storm has only been focused on the Women’s World Championship of All Elite Wrestling.
Every time she lost the title? She transformed herself into someone new. After dropping to Jamie Hayter at Full Gear 2022, she regained the title at Double or Nothing 2023 as a member of The Outcasts, turning heel on the audience. Her third reign would come at Full Gear 2023 by defeating Hikaru Shida, the beginning of Timeless Toni Storm. That fourth reign would come when Toni would still be Timeless Toni, but it came after the betrayal of Mariah May and proving to the world she is the best at playing roles of the century. She was playing a role in the third as Timeless Toni. She’s now the great performer of the role of Timeless Toni.
Toni focuses on that AEW Women’s World Championship. It’s the most important prize in the world to her, and it took the ultimate betrayal of her muse to emotionally break her to win it at All In London in 2024. Mercedes doesn’t have this sort of emotional advantage against Toni. She’s going to need something more.
That pride of Mercedes Moné was on full display on Wednesday, dressed like a cowgirl, throwing Toni’s own speaking cadence in her face. Moné presented herself full of confidence, treating this like just another stop on her road to becoming the greatest women’s champion in the world.
Toni wasn’t taking Mercedes as easy as Mercedes took Toni. Toni made it clear to Mercedes that while Moné fears an ordinary life? Toni Storm fears an ordinary death. This is why she’s ready and willing to do whatever it takes to fight for what she believes in. What she believes in? Is that nobody, not Mercedes, not anyone, can defeat her for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
This will come down to a simple question: what’s going to be better for AEW going forward? Mercedes Moné a belt collector in a way we haven’t seen since Kenny Omega in 2021, or Timeless Toni Storm as the beating heart of the women’s division?
Mercedes will be there to prove the proverb wrong. Pride doesn’t come before destruction. Pride is the prize of destruction. The destruction of those around you who doubted your ability.
Toni will be there to twist the proverb. Storm is the haughty spirit that plans to be Mercedes’ fall.
This could have been the main event. Maybe next year.
