All Out 2025
Coffin Match
Jon Moxley versus Darby Allin

Darby Allin made his return at All In Texas to help prevent the Death Riders from winning another one. Darby called out Jon Moxley at the peak of Mount Everest, but he didn’t touch him in the match. He took everyone out to make room for Hangman Adam Page to win.
Since then? It hasn’t been the most focused feud in AEW. Which is interesting because I think Jon Moxley has been absolutely incredible over the past few weeks. He’s firing on all cylinders. The problem is his focus has been on recruiting Daniel Garcia, getting in the business of Kris Statlander, and motivating the Young Bucks. He’s the creeping devil jumping shoulder to shoulder to manipulate and motivate.
Against Darby Allin? It just doesn’t feel like there is a focus there. Part of the problem is that Darby has only had two matches since 2024: the Lights Out Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door and a falls count anywhere match against Claudio Castagnoli. We’re not seeing the motivated Darby Allin we were seeing at the end of 2024 taking part in the Continental Classic. If we see Darby he’s either jumping off something or getting beaten down.
Moxley, meanwhile, is on almost every show, a dominating presence, honestly more present on the shows than the AEW Men’s World Champion. It’s like even without the gold he needs to be haunting everyone at every moment. What makes it palatable unlike his original title run is that there’s a vulnerability to Jon Moxley now. He isn’t the untouchable king of the castle anymore. He’s a fallen despot plotting his next move, but doing it out in the open. He feels like someone who can be beaten, even if that’s extremely hard to do.
This coffin match is more about the built animosity between the two men over the course of a year, ever since Jon Moxley took the title shot briefcase from Darby Allin at Grand Slam to cash in and defeat Bryan Danielson and end his full-time wrestling career. It isn’t about the stakes being so high on the show between two men you just have to end this with a gimmick match.
That said, these two men have been magical every time they get in the ring, and right now Jon Moxley is doing some of his best work ever. If Darby can rise to the occasion? This could be the best match of the night. I just wish it was a bit more focused between Darby and Moxley, instead of Moxley doing all of his Death Rider business with Darby in the periphery.
Coffins usually mean the end of things, especially people, but I’m not sure if this will be the end of Darby and Mox.
