The matches for the third week of the Continental Classic:

Kazuchika Okada (2-1) defeats Jungle Jack Perry (0-2)

Jack absolutely made his presence known in this match. Perry replaced Darby Allin in the Continental Classic due to injury and there was a lot of criticism about it. While I agreed with those who wanted Perry to stay in the tag team division, I didn’t understand the people who didn’t want to see Perry wrestle. Jack Perry is a fantastic wrestler. He simply had a mediocre heel turn. He did what a lot of guys do when they become heel in thinking they have to strip everything interesting about them in-ring so they don’t get pops for cool moves. Ricochet has proved you can still do all the cool moves and get booed due to your personality.

Perry as a babyface singles wrestler is absolutely a must see TV experience and he proved it against Kazuchika Okada. That somersault in the corner into a suplex he did was my favourite spot of the match. The spot most will remember however is Perry deciding to bite Okada’s crotch to get out of a tombstone. It couldn’t get him the win, but it certainly got the crowd on his side.

Perry had a fantastic match and I expect his next three to be great as well. Okada was Okada: the best wrestler alive.

Speedball Mike Bailey (1-1) defeats Kyle Fletcher (2-1)

What. A. Match.

This is why we watch the Continental Classic.

Bailey and Fletcher had an absolutely incredible match that emphasized both man’s strengths. Bailey has speed, striking, and taking risks with his body. Kyle Fletcher can do absolutely everything, but his emphasis on power and being able to brace impact and return it is what makes him one of the best wrestlers today.

I definitely thought his may go to a draw, or Kyle Fletcher would pull it out, but Bailey instead got his first win on the board. It reminded the audience that Bailey is more than just a tag team wrestler, and Fletcher is everything we saw about him and more.

Claudio Castagnoli (2-1-1) and Konosuke Takeshita (2-0-1) go to a draw

The dreaded draw. In 2023, Claudio went to a draw against Bryan Danielson which didn’t just cost him the semi final of the Continental Classic that year, but it also allowed Eddie Kingston to take that semi final spot. Kingston would win the C2 in 2023. In 2024 they had two time limit draws, with Kazuchika Okada and Daniel Garcia going to a draw and Darby Allin and Ricochet going to a draw. Had Darby won he would have been in the C2, but going to a draw meant Ricochet was able to slip in.

Now Claudio deals with the draw again, and it’s on his fourth match. If he wins his fifth match it’s not so bad. If he loses or goes to a draw? Anyone with 3 wins can pass him. It’s a dangerous spot to be in.

Konosuke Takeshita now has the same amount of points but he has two matches remaining. That’s more opportunity to pick up points.

Speedball Mike Bailey (2-1) defeats Kevin Knight (1-2)

JetSpeed met in an exciting match that saw Bailey beat his younger tag team partner. The dropkick across the ring got Knight his win against Darby Allin, but it wasn’t enough to put away Speedball. This is a tough loss for Knight since he has two very big challenges in Okada and PAC in front of him. Bailey has PAC as well, but also faces Jungle Jack Perry.

Current Results

Konosuke Takeshita 2-0-1
Claudio Castagnoli 2-1-1
Jon Moxley 1-2
Orange Cassidy 1-1
Mascara Dorada 1-1
Roderick Strong 0-2

Kazuchika Okada 2-1
Kyle Fletcher 2-1
Speedball Mike Bailey 2-1
Kevin Knight 1-2
PAC 1-1
Jungle Jack Perry 0-2

Blue League Overview

Claudio Castagnoli finishing four matches before anyone else sets the stage. We know his last match is Roderick Strong. Roddy will face Jon Moxley tonight to try to get three points on the board. Claudio will absolutely have to beat Roddy if he wants to make the playoff semi final. Claudio winning would mean 10 points. If Takeshita wins one match he ties that, two wins and he’s absolutely the winner of the Blue League. Moxley at best can have 9 points, same to Roderick Strong. OC and Dorada could potentially have 12 points but only one of them could win their match on Wednesday.

If Strong beats Claudio? Claudio exhausts at 7 points. That means open season on the standings. Moxley could still finish with 9, OC and Mascara Dorada still potentially in the mix, and Roddy of course would just have to win his other two matches (tough to do against Moxley and Dorada) though his match with Moxley could seal his fate early. He’d be beating Claudio just to keep him from taking position.

I think there’s no doubt Takeshita takes one of the spots, but the next spot has me scratching my head. Does Moxley win his final two to take 9 points, and Roddy ends up playing spoiler by costing wins for Claudio and Dorada? That’s how I figure this could go for Mox to survive. I can also see Mascara Dorada defeating Takeshita and Strong to stamp his spot in the final two.

Gold League Overview

We got three wrestlers with a 2-1 record in Okada, Fletcher, and Bailey. We got two wrestlers with only two matches. Jack Perry would have to win his final three matches against Bailey, Fletcher, and PAC to get 9 points and hope to earn a playoff spot.

Okada has to face JetSpeed for his final two matches, which I think Okada ends up winning both. I would be surprised if he costs himself another win.

Bailey has Okada (who I don’t think he beats) and Jungle Jack Perry, who I also think catches Speedball.

Then you have Kyle Fletcher, who is facing Perry and PAC. Both of those matches will be tough for him, but I think he wins at least one of them. The other he either wins or goes to a draw, which would still give him 10 points and the other spot.

The real darkhorse could be PAC. He’s 1-1. He’s got Fletcher on Wednesday followed by Kevin Knight and Jungle Jack. He could legitimately win all of those and finish with 12 points. I don’t see it happening, but I consider it a possibility.

I think Jack ends up playing spoiler to someone, and PAC feels like the perfect target.

Week 4 Preview

AEW Dynamite/Collision Holiday Bash
December 17, 2025

Orange Cassidy (1-1) versus Mascara Dorada (1-1)

Interesting match. I always love it when they put Orange Cassidy up against a luchador. He’s almost an American luchador in a way, something I hate saying since it gives Quackenbush some form of credit. OC is best when an underdog but his matches against lucha wrestlers also feel like he can be in his element. Lots of quick transitions and reversals.

Both men are only on match three and this could decide which of them might make a run and which one won’t.

Roderick Strong (0-2) versus Jon Moxley (1-2)

This is do or die for Roddy. It’s also do or die for Moxley. Neither man wants to have three losses as three losses usually spells doom in the C2. A win here keeps Moxley alive with a chance to make the playoffs. A win here for Roddy means he’d have to win his next two to get in the playoff and means he essentially stopped two Death Riders from making it to the semi final.

PAC (1-1) versus Kyle Fletcher (2-1)

PAC faced a young Kyle Fletcher in FCP back on April 20, 2019 with PAC taking the victory. They have not faced each other in singles competition since, but have had two matches in AEW: The United Empire (Will Ospreay, Mark Davis, and Kyle Fletcher) defeated the Death Triangle (PAC, Penta, and Rey Fenix) in the AEW World Trios Tournament, and PAC won a number one contenders match back in 2024 for the AEW International Championship in a match also featuring Fletcher, Claudio, and Tomohiro Ishii.

Despite both being heel groups, it doesn’t seem like there’s any love between the Don Callis Family and the Death Riders. Fletcher will be looking to avenge his loss against Mike Bailey while PAC wants to avenge his loss against DCF co-leader Kazuchika Okada.

While Fletcher can afford another loss? I feel like the Don Callis Family wins another against the Death Riders.

Tune in next week for coverage of week four.
