Owen Hart Women’s Tournament Quarter Final
Alex Windsor versus Willow Nightingale

AEW clearly wants the Brawling Birds versus Divine Dominion to be pushed back as long as they humanly can.
The Birds first formed in February and have had seven victories as a tag team with three trios wins thrown in for good measure. If anyone is possibly the number one contenders for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship it’s them. But All Elite Wrestling is clearly trying to keep the two teams apart. My guess is so they can have them win the tag titles at All In London 2026.
Due to this, they’ve had Jamie Hayter popping up in the AEW Women’s World Championship singles when it’s time to set up a match for Thekla, who has also been dry for opponents. Hayter faced her at Dynasty and will now be at Double or Nothing in a four way. That leaves Alex Windsor with something to do.
Windsor did get a shot at the title on Collision: Spring BreakThru and also holds the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship so it’s not like she isn’t a capable singles wrestler. It’s just another delay for the Brawling Birds to get what they’ve already built up victories for.
Another wrestler that’s been lacking when it comes to opponents is Willow Nightingale, who at one point was essentially facing AEW wrestlers making returns. Willow faced Hikaru Shida, Queen Aminata, Kamille, Anna Jay, and most recently Red Velvet. Alex Windsor will actually be her first opponent in a while that isn’t a return, and that’s partially because it’s not for the TBS Championship. It’s for the Owen Hart Tournament.

We already know that whomever wins this match won’t have their semi final match any time soon. Persephone is currently injured so they will wait a month before having her face Hazuki. Persephone was actually supposed to be in the 4-Way for the AEW Women’s World Championship. Sareee is also out of action, which delays her match with Skye Blue.
There’s no hate between these two competitors as they’ve even teamed together in the past, but I’m sure they’ll be looking to make it a competitive bout. Regardless of who moves on in the tournament, it’s pretty clear both have different trajectories out of this. Alex Windsor has to stay healthy for the Brawling Birds to get their inevitable AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship shot, while Willow has a TBS Championship to defend down the road.
