Jurassic Express Reunion?

At AEW All Out 2024, we got the first time Jack Perry and Killshot have been alone in the ring together since both decided to turn to the dark side.

The former Luchasaurus was the first to turn, attacking Jungle Boy Jack Perry after The Jurassic Express lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to The Young Bucks in 2022. By turning he associated with Christian Cage, who himself had already turned on Jungle Boy.

After a feud between them which ended at Full Gear 2022 in a fantastic cage match, Luchasaurus would stay loyal to Christian Cage and not associate with Jack ever again. He would be renamed Killswitch in 2023 and even had a run as TNT Champion, despite him essentially let Cage take the credit.

More than once, Killswitch has teased turning on Christian Cage, and done so in a way to take the sympathy of the audience from the abuse he takes from Christian, only to flip back and stay loyal to The Patriarch. The most recent example was in the Casino Gauntlet at All In 2024, when he assisted Christian Cage in winning the anytime, anywhere AEW Men’s World Championship title shot.

Jack Perry would shed his Jungle Boy persona and turn himself at Forbidden Door after losing to Sanada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He turned on Hook, eventually beating him for the FTW Championship, only to lose it back to Hook at All In 2023.

After being suspended for real glass cry me a river, Jack Perry would return in New Japan Pro Wrestling as The Scapegoat, aligning with the House of Torture. He’d make his return to AEW with his suspension lifted by The Young Bucks, and would eventually win the AEW TNT Championship. After defeating Darby Allin in a coffin match at All In 2024, Perry would challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW Men’s World Championship at All Out 2024.

That’s where we get caught up, where after the match in which Danielson defeated Perry, Christian Cage and The Patriarchy came out to cash in the anywhere, anytime AEW Men’s World Championship title shot. It was here we got to see Jack Perry and Killshot in the ring again for the first time. A Jurassic Express Reunion.

Unfortunately, the moment was only fleeting, as Jon Moxley and Blackpool Combat Club would run out The Patriarchy and not allow them to get their title shot.

On Dynamite this week, Christian Cage came out to open the show with an interview with Toni Schiavone. The crowd chanted LUCHASAURUS! at Killshot, who stood in loyalty with Christian Cage and The Patriarchy. Cage, often blaming everything on Killshot, even gave respect to his loyal dino soldier for once. He said he’s a monster and the most complete big man in the industry.

Christian Cage: And he’s mine!

Jack Perry would later go out and defend the TNT Championship against Lio Rush, in a match reminiscent to the match he had with former Jurassic Express pal Marko Stunt back in July. After that match, Marko and Killshot had a confrontation but shared no words.

It certainly feels like AEW is trying to plant the idea in your mind that we could be seeing the reunion of the former Luchasaurus and the former Jungle Boy. It couldn’t come at a better time either. AEW needs a tag team like the Jurassic Express right now more than they need Killshot in singles matches. It probably needs it more than they even need Jack Perry as TNT Champion.

When I discussed the levels of the tag division, I remarked there was only one team, maybe two, in Tier 2-A, the level right under Tier 1 teams like FTR and the Young Bucks. If the Jurassic Express got back together, they would be at worst a Tier 2-A team and at best a Tier 1 tag team that you could build the division around.

It’s also interesting to wonder if that’s a heel tag team or a babyface tag team. Could you reunite Jurassic Express and keep them heels? It would be tough, but it would give teams like FTR and The Acclaimed someone to work against.

Actually, let me be honest.

My grand vision is Adam Copeland and Christian Cage versus Jurassic Express.

And for that to happen? If it happens? Maybe both teams are babyfaces, but I could also see Jack Perry and Killshot putting such a devastating beating onto Christian Cage that when Adam Copeland runs out of the save? The fans essentially forgive everything Cage has said and done and just support the two GTA boys coming back together for that one last great tag team run. I just see that match as one of the best tag team matches AEW could ever do.

But aside from that, it’s clear the crowd wants to see Jurassic Express and would love them unconditionally getting back together. A strong babyface tag team like that at the top of the division means you don’t need Young Bucks as the default tag holders. Grizzled Young Vets have someone to fight. The Gunn’s have someone to fight. Whatever Jon Moxley calls his new crew since I doubt they keep Blackpool Combat Club (There’s four members and PAC was in Death Triangle so I’m gonna call them the Death Rhombus) could face them as well.

I don’t think this is imminent. Jack Perry still has a lot of life in his TNT Championship run and Christian Cage would have to have something bad happen to his anytime anywhere shot before he gives Killshot a reason to turn on him. But it absolutely feels like AEW is planting the seeds for us to see The Boy And His Dino to get back together.
