Tonight is Dynasty from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. Zero Hour begins at 7PM EST.
Sorry again for no previews on the show. I honestly lost track of the week. I even knew Dynasty was a short build up and then I just let it get by me. A lot of the card getting announced late threw me off a bit but no excuse. Will do it for Double or Nothing.
This is the first Canadian pay per view outside of Toronto for All Elite Wrestling. We probably would have got a show in Montreal if they didn’t completely mess up their Montreal debut.
Short turnarounds for a pay per view are not uncommon for AEW. 2023 and 2024 we got one week between All In and All Out. With All In London on August 30 we might even get it again. It still didn’t feel like enough time to properly build up this card.
Not that AEW did a bad job. The main event is very well built up. The AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship didn’t need much time. Moxley and Ospreay got a lot of time on TV. I don’t think Jericho’s return match needed much time either. The rest of the card is a bit slapped together. Thekla is facing one half of the Brawling Birds because Toni got injured and they weren’t confident in Mina Shirakawa for a pay per view match. The Dogs just won the Trios Championship and got challenged after. Darby went from a never ending feud with Death Riders and Death Riders adjacent Dogs only to pivot to Andrade because Don Callis apparently made a deal with MJF. Bucks were supposed to face Okada and Fletcher but with Fletcher injured that led to Takeshita in the match with a Casino Gauntlet now needed for the TNT.
Of course, AEW has one of the greatest rosters ever assembled so having to assemble matches in a pinch is something they can easily do and still make it feel worth the price of admission. I might be most excited for the least built match on the card which is Mark Davis versus Jack Perry on Zero Hour. I would have paid money to see Mark Davis whip Perry from pillar to post.
I’ve heard criticisms of not enough women on the card but who really should be on the main show? Toni is out. Harley and Mina are sulking. Willow might do an open challenge. Mercedes needs to return from her excursion. My only suggestion is they could have built up Hikaru Shida for Thekla instead of having her pop up to lose to Willow. That said I’ve enjoyed Shida teasing turning on everyone.
This will be a very good show to usher how AEW shakes out this spring. Do they go with Kenny Omega as champion or does MJF continue his run? Where does Chris Jericho go after his match with Ricochet? Who becomes TNT Champion? How does Don Callis Family survive without Kyle Fletcher keeping everyone together? Can they keep the Brawling Birds and Divine Dominion from a match until All In London or will they have to do it by Double or Nothing?
AEW Dynasty 2026 Zero Hour
Alex Windsor versus Marina Shafir

This match is essentially a way to give Alex Windsor something to do while Jamie Hayter, her Brawling Bird, is off on the main card fighting for the AEW Women’s World Championship. The Brawling Birds I figure are destined to eventually win the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship against Divine Dominion at All In London so this is a good sidequest.
Marina Shafir must be pretty happy with her recent run. She got a pay per view match with Timeless Toni Storm, the Mixed Nuts Mayhem at World’s End, and plenty of Dynamite matches just because of her association to Death Riders and being one of the few reliable heels the company has with Moné out and Athena in ROH mostly.
I actually see this as a way to get her a win on the Zero Hour over Alex, who can take a loss here. You can use that win to push her towards a match with Willow Nightingale at some point this month on Dynamite or Collision. After that? AEW really needs to push other heels. It feels like they might turn Hikaru Shida, which would at least be a fresh heel, even if she’s worked a lot of people on the roster already multiple times.
Winner: Marina Shafir
AEW National Championship
Mark Davis versus Jack Perry (c)

Well this is a surprise.
I do think Jack Perry needs to get his ass on the road in the Jurassic Bus and defend the AEW National Championship around the world. Especially the North American indies. Jack appearing for the first Maple Leaf Pro tapings would be nice. There’s a lot of indies that could use him right now with the trouble going on (Ricochet the former champ is actually putting in the work showing up on the shows) so I’d like to see him out and about more.
I love this match. It rewards Mark Davis for the hard work he’s been doing and it gives Jack a really good opponent. I don’t really see the National Championship needing rankings but Davis is a former AEW Trios Champion so I’d say he’s got enough good rep.
I think this match will be very good. Jack with the win.
Winner: Jack Perry
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship
Hyan and Maya World versus Divine Dominion (c)

It took me a while to find the last time Hyan and Maya World wrestled in AEW in a tag team match. It was January 3rd, 2026 against the Timeless Love Bombs. They lost. They also lost at Worlds End against Sisters of Sin and Babes of Wrath in December. They literally do not have a tag team win in All Elite Wrestling and they are getting a title shot against Divine Dominion?
Okay okay. Maybe I should consider Ring of Honor. They did have a win against Ilnspiration on the ROH YouTube Special. They have one other win against Viva Van and Lady Bird Monroe.
Sigh.
Good on the ladies for getting the match but it’s hard to take a division serious when we are handing shots to a winless AEW tag team.
Winner: Divine Dominion
AEW Dynasty 2026

Chris Jericho versus Ricochet

I thought Chris Jericho did a good job in his return promo. It was a more humble, introspective, and certainly more aware Chris Jericho in the past. It also wasn’t Jericho trying to completely change himself. This is now a Chris Jericho aware of his career and where it is and a lot more willing to play into the past. That isn’t to say he has never done it before. For all of Jericho’s forward thinking this isn’t the first time he’s gone back to the list.
Going with Ricochet as his first opponent is a great choice too. This is a fresh match-up and funny enough gets Ricochet back on the main card of the pay per view despite dropping the AEW National Championship.
I figure AEW goes ahead and gives Jericho the big return win but I could also see them going the other way. Jericho losing this first match and giving him something to work towards. It might also be a good way to keep him away from any belt contention and give Ricochet a win he can use to work towards something else. With The Dogs winning the Trios Championship that probably keeps a heel trios team from getting that match for some time so he can stick to singles and GOA stick to tag.
So yeah, I’d go either way. I’ll go with my gut and say the Canadians are all winning tonight. Well. Most.
Winner: Chris Jericho
AEW Trios Championship
The Conglomeration versus The Dogs (c)

They made it pretty clear on AEW Collision that someone would be coming back for this match. There’s options in The Conglomeration for that to be like Tomohiro Ishii (Stone Pitbull versus The Dogs?) but it feels obvious this is going to be for hometown boy Kyle O’Reilly to get the big hometown pop.
I think this would have been much better for the TNT Casino Gauntlet but I get it. This gets The Dogs on the main card and another AEW Trios Championship match on the pay per view! I can’t be complaining about that.
It feels like Orange Cassidy is then inheriting the Dogs feud from Darby Allin, which is at least “something to do” though I feel like I’d like to see OC do more. Maybe he doesn’t need to. I just think there’s still some juice to squeeze out of this orange.
Dogs win because they need a good run with these titles.
Winner: The Dogs
Young Bucks versus Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada

When word came out that Kyle Fletcher was injured and that ruined the plans for this match I gave a bit of an eye roll. While I’m quite aware that the TNT Champion isn’t expected to defend on PPV as it’s a television title, it still felt like once again AEW taking a champion and switching his division just to fill a spot.
I’m also a bit sour that Don Callis Family was slowly coming to a realization that Kyle Fletcher, off a great singles run, if he’s going back to tags? It should be with Mark Davis. The short Trios Championship run and having those two back together? It just felt right to go all the way with it, especially if Cope and Cage are winning the tag titles. That’s a team who could face them. I know I just ranted about singles champs in other divisions, but if you’re gonna do it, that’s how you do it!
So now we go back to Okada and Takeshita with the build up that Don Callis knows they don’t like each other but wants them to work together anyway. Don Callis is truly the best manager in pro wrestling because I have no idea how this is getting over. It’s a truly terrible idea to have your guys fighting each other. It’s why Don himself has tried to break it up multiple times! And now we know this match is really just about getting us to the match between Take and Okada at Double or Nothing.
Thankfully it’s against The Young Bucks and I expect it to be great. I also expect the Bucks to win and possibly face Cope and Cage in a dream match at Double or Nothing. If not then I’d hold it off to All In London. Though I could also see that as a three way between FTR, Bucks, and C&C.
I’ll save my rant for how Konosuke Takeshita should be Continental Champion right now. I get it, they didn’t want him as Continental Champ and losing at Wrestle Kingdom, but man. It really messed up a lot of obvious stories.
Winner: The Young Bucks
Andrade el Idolo versus Darby Allin

I wish I more excited for this?
I know the match itself will be great. Andrade has been on a fantastic run in his return to AEW. He’s in a great upper midcard spot and I’m glad he’s back on pay per view here. I’m sure him and Darby are going to do great stuff.
I just don’t have much excitement for Darby Allin at the moment. I watched his promo and it’s the first thing in months I felt for him. I’m just not burning up for a big Darby main event run just yet. Maybe this match creates the spark.
Regardless of who wins in the main event I figure Darby is winning this. He’s finally free of the never ending feud against Death Riders and the Death Riders adjacent Dogs. He doesn’t need to team with the equally lost Orange Cassidy anymore, who I’m sure will get into the TNT Casino Gauntlet without a purpose.
I do hope they find something exciting for Andrade after this. I don’t know if there’s a singles title to go after, or even a tag or trios. I doubt he leaves Don Callis Family to turn babyface but I absolutely could see him pissed off that DCF was out trying to protect MJF (which is why DCF was going after Darby and Jack in the first place) instead of pushing for him to win the championship. If MJF ends up losing the title? Maybe Andrade is a good first feud?
I think Darby wins this and it’s a statement win to push him to a title shot. If it’s against MJF it will main event Double or Nothing. If it’s against Kenny Omega it’ll likely be on TV.
Winner: Darby Allin
AEW TNT Championship
Casino Gauntlet Match

The most obvious choice would be Tommaso Ciampa.
He came in AEW, won the TNT Championship quick against Mark Briscoe, dropped it, and now looks like the most built up guy to win it back. He’s coming out first with Rush.
I just don’t know if “Silvy” is coming his way just yet.
This would be a funny place to bring back Hangman Adam Page. Have him pull a full Cody and have him win the TNT Championship because he can’t be AEW Men’s World Championship. I’m sure someone thought about it. They are running Virginia soon… but nah.
They did just last night take the AEW Trios Championship off of JetSpeed and Mistico which means all of that singles building up of Kevin Knight can go somewhere. Having him win the TNT Championship here would be a big thing for him, and allow when Fletcher is back to face a guy who took him to the limit.
I thought this could have been a good spot to have Kyle O’Reilly win as a Vancouver boy but he’s going to be the third man for The Conglomeration against The Dogs.
Honestly, so long as it isn’t HOOK winning I’m good with wherever they go here.
Ciampa… Knight… Rush…PAC…Samoa Joe.. El Phantasmo…
You know what? Let’s go with Brody King.

AEW Continental Championship
Will Ospreay versus Jon Moxley (c)

I said I won’t talk about it until this match so here goes.
World’s End was a mistake.
It was a mistake to have Jon Moxley win.
It was a mistake to start building up Moxley as a babyface winning the Continental Classic knowing Will Ospreay would be a babyface returning for revenge against him. You have Takeshita win that CC and you don’t need to deal with all of that.
They had a chance to make up for the mistake at Revolution by having Konosuke Takeshita beat him and they did not. Doing so would have taken the AEW Continental Championship off of him and then allowed them to build up Takeshita versus Okada as a title for title match again. Now it’s just a random challenge for the AEW International Championship at Double or Nothing.
The story between Mox and Ospreay didn’t need the title and when the match was first announced? The title wasn’t on the line. I guess they realized after that the no run-in stipulation worked well for the match so they put it on the line.
So now what do they do? Do they have Moxley defeat Ospreay in his first big match in returning or do they have Ospreay win the AEW Continental Championship, which could take him out of the running for the Owen?
AEW has done about the best they could to fix the logic here, with Ospreay having to call on the help of United Empire to match up against the Death Riders in the go home show. Aaron Henare ended up stealing the show of that whole encounter from Mox, Ospreay, and even the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman. I think this match matters. I just don’t think it matters as an AEW Continental Championship match.
I’ve long wondered if Mox is only holding the title to keep him out of MJF’s affairs as World Champion. If Kenny Omega ends up winning you could move the title off of him, but he might also want to stay champion to stay away from Kenny. I think Mox wins here and Ospreay gets his win back in The Owen. I just don’t see Ospreay winning gold this early. They could do a draw but I’d expect a rematch soon after if they did, and I think they want to hold that until the Owen.
Winner: Jon Moxley
AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship
Cope and Cage versus FTR (c)

Well this was inevitable.
We finally get Adam Copeland and Christian Cage against FTR in the big dream match… again. As they did this in Toronto already.
This time it’s for the title, and I think that means a big title change. It’s actually a good time to do so. We got a lot of teams who’d work against Cope and Cage well. GOA, Death Riders, Don Callis Family, and of course a dream match against The Young Bucks. I don’t know how long this run will go, but it certainly feels like when it’s finished? So will be the career of Adam Copeland. There’s a part of me that hopes Christian Cage keeps going.
I won’t lie, I just want this match and feud over and done with. I’m sure the rematch will be the big final match, but having Cope and Christian be AEW Men’s World Tag Team Champions should be a short term thing. They shouldn’t be lording over all of the young, hungry, in-prime tag teams in AEW.
I worry this will feel a lot like the Hurt Syndicate run but at least Cope and Christian will be willing to work anyone. Anyway, I only see one result. Time to end this FTR reign.
Winners and NEW AEW Men’s World Tag Team Champions: Cope and Cage
AEW Women’s World Championship
Jamie Hayter versus Thekla (c)

Poor Thekla. She was supposed to have a major match here with Timeless Toni Storm, one I do think she would have won. It would have been a major victory for her and made her feel less like a midcard title holder. Thekla has been doing great work in the ring and on the microphone as champion.
The bigger problem is AEW tried to launch the AEW Women’s Tag Team division and they constantly have to pull teams they were building up to put back into singles contention. Storm pretty much stopped working as a team with Mina and now Jamie Hayter is being pulled from Brawling Birds to get this shot.
I think it’s a safe bet for Thekla to win but I really hope they have something in mind for a strong singles babyface contender for Double or Nothing. How about building up Persephone? Where’s Yuka Sakazaki? Where’s Riho? One has to wonder when Mercedes Moné returns and when she does, does she finally turn babyface?
Winner: Thekla
AEW Men’s World Championship
Kenny Omega versus Maxwell Jacob Friedman (c)

At the end of January I wrote about the Return of Omega.
“This all leads me to think that AEW won’t be going long term with Max, and if he gets a run beyond Revolution? It might not go much longer than Dynasty. Dynasty is in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, so AEW might want Canadian Kenny Omega to go over on that show. You could run Andrade or Swerve versus Kenny at Revolution, with the winner getting the shot at MJF at Dynasty.”
This is pretty much what happened. One point to me.
Swerve and Kenny did face with the winner getting a shot at MJF at Dynasty. Now we’re here. The God of Professional Wrestling versus The Devil.
I pushed hard for Kenny Omega to win here. I still think he could. More importantly? I feel he should.
I see the reasons why not to. MJF is having a great run. He’s doing a fantastic job in interviews with podcasts in promoting All Elite Wrestling. There doesn’t feel like a stop to his title reign right now. Kenny Omega also stood tall at the end of Dynamite, which is often the sign of who is going to end up losing.
AEW has been building up Darby Allin to getting a shot at MJF which could happen if he defeats Andrade tonight. A perfect setup to going right into that program. Of course, you could also run Darby versus Kenny Omega as it’s a rare never before seen match in AEW. AEW is in Washington state coming out of Dynasty which would be Darby’s stomping grounds. Feels like the time to quickly pull out a huge title defence out of the pay per view.
There’s a big question mark on where Swerve Strickland has been. He doesn’t have a match for this pay per view. Would it not make sense to involve him in the main event and cost Kenny Omega to set up a major confrontation between the two at Double or Nothing? Of course… that could also be for the AEW Men’s World Championship.
The biggest question on if Kenny wins isn’t who he can face. That’s easy to answer. He’s built up programs with Swerve, with Andrade, with Don Callis Family, heck he could also work a rematch against MJF. The road for Kenny is pretty clear if they go that way. It’s all about setting up Omega vs Ospreay for All In London. That’s the biggest match they could run in the main event.
The biggest question is what does MJF do if he loses the AEW Men’s World Championship? And that’s a tough question to answer. He doesn’t really have a clear program. Not unless they plan to keep him champion up to All In to go against Ospreay. I did suggest an Andrade face turn to take him on but that’s all I got.
AEW did a great job having people shooting after MJF as champion to build up the run but he’s now run out of clear competitors. All of the top guys he hasn’t faced are heels. That’s when you go with a babyface champion. That was my logic with Hangman losing.
I should also talk about the program. For the most part I’ve enjoyed it. It’s clear they had to do a bit of a pivot because Kenny Omega was uncomfortable with how much of it was about his diverticulitis. He’s worked hard in this current run to not be constantly selling his stomach like he did in 2025 only for MJF to bring it up and commentary to obsess over it. Omega’s promo and the Doc Sampson segment has hopefully put that down.
I think they’ve done a great job convincing us that Kenny Omega could win in Vancouver. Heck, I’ve been convinced all year. If he doesn’t win it’s because they really want to keep going with MJF. Have him face Darby at DON, someone at Forbidden Door, and defend against the winner of the Owen at All In London. Drop in the biggest location possible. But I absolutely feel this is the time to go with Kenny Omega for possibly the final time.
God wins.
