AEW Dynasty 2025
AEW International Championship
Ricochet versus Speedball Mike Bailey versus Kenny Omega (c)

It certainly feels inevitable at this point, especially with some media reports, that Kenny Omega will be retaining the AEW International Championship right up to Y’All In Texas to face Kazuchika Okada in a title for title situation as Okada is AEW Continental Champion.

I’ve already made my mark in saying they should combine the two names to create: Continational Championship. What, you got any better ideas?

So that might make the result of something like this a little obvious but I do think it’s still a possibility they don’t go the merge belt route and Kenny Omega faces Kazuchika Okada as a contender for the Continental Championship. What gets me wondering that?

There has to be some reward for the work Ricochet has been doing as a heel in AEW. He’s been absolutely fantastic. He did get to the final four of the C2 and does have a win over Swerve Strickland but otherwise he’s just been doing great work every week he’s on television. Winning the International Championship, something he tried and failed to do when Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita were champions, would be a nice reward for him.

Speedball Mike Bailey has had a pretty decent debut in All Elite Wrestling and putting him up in this role is a good way for him to get an AEW pay per view under his belt and really introduce himself to the AEW fans. Bailey is an excellent wrestler with a ton of athleticism and a bit of a quirky charisma but he’s also a big time locker room presence. Wrestlers adore Mike and enjoy working with him. Having guys like that in the locker, even if you don’t slot them in top spots, will go a long way to keeping the locker room comfortable.

While I would have preferred a singles match between any of these guys, I am good with seeing all of them getting on the pay per view in a major match instead of just a Zero Hour appearance.

If Ricochet doesn’t walk out as International Champion I do hope AEW finds something for him where he can be rewarded for the fantastic work he has done as a heel for the past six months in the company. Mike Bailey just needs to keep appealing himself to the AEW fans. Kenny Omega, champion or not, has a date with Kazuchika Okada in Texas in four months. It’s a date both men absolutely need to make at their best.

It would be nice if both Okada and Omega could find a real program to sink their teeth into for Double or Nothing so it doesn’t feel as obvious that both men are on a slow collision course with each other.
