Saturday Tailgate Brawl
$200,000 Tailgate Brawl 4-Way
The Acclaimed versus The Outrunners versus Bang Bang Gang versus Big Bill and Bryan Keith
I don’t know what got Tony Khan in the mood for always making these money matches but I sure hope the wrestlers are shoot winning it. You can’t be kayfabing the cash!
I feel a bit guilty because I was hoping this ended up Juice Robinson and Ace Austin instead of Austin Gunn. Then again, Ace Austin is likely showing up in the Casino Gauntlet so he will get a bit of shine there. AEW has kind of forgotten Big Bill and Bryan Keith (I know they do some stuff on AEW Collision) compared to the momentum Big Bill specifically had earlier in the year. Same has happened to The Outrunners, who were at one point getting AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship shots. They now rarely get TV time.
Then we got Anthony Bowens and Max Caster. What a disaster of a story. They failed the push of Bowens as a babyface because they kept him attached to Billy Gunn and didn’t give him enough to do. Max Caster got over being a jobber people liked but it was impossible to make that valuable for something. Then they start turning Bowens heel but still have nothing really for him to do because nobody really wanted another feud with Max. So what do they do? They put them together, which should be a heel team but instead it’s a comedy heel team that doesn’t want to get back together? And now both are losing like jobbers.
They feel like the obvious choice to win something like this (even if this is just a preview I gotta say it) just because even if they have a BAD story? At least it’s a story. The other teams just exist.
Anyway, this is just a tailgate brawl match (essentially a pre-show match) so I’m not going to be too hard on it. Many good wrestlers in this match. Honestly would love to see Juice Robinson doing more but with Bang Bang Gang so, uh, banged up, he can’t really get much going until other guys get healthy. Hopefully he gets back into the Continental Classic and finds some retribution there for getting injured last time.
Tag Team Match
Boom and Doom versus RPG Vice
I don’t get paid enough to discuss QT Marshall sneaking his way onto another PPV pre-show.
Sigh.
I don’t mind BIG BOOM! A.J. at all but if he’s going to be attached to a potentially turning babyface QT Marshall I have absolutely zero desire to see or discuss anything he does.
I still like Trent Baretta so I hope he gets to beat up people.
Yeah. That’s all you are getting out of me on this. Be impressed you got that much. How is it almost 2026 and we still have QT Marshall taking up valuable minutes of time in this promotion? How do we have the QT Marshall match announced before a second women’s match, even a match on the Saturday Tailgate Brawl?
I will not watch this match. I hope everyone involved is healthy by the end of it.
