$500,000 Match
The Young Bucks versus Jurassic Express

One year ago I expressed how much I wanted to see a Jurassic Express reunion.

One year later? I get my wish.

It’s clear how much both men wanted this as well. Luchasaurus needed to get healthy. Jack Perry needed some time to think. With both men aligned and on the same page? We’re getting a bit more grown up Jurassic Express. A man and his monster instead of a boy and his dinosaur.

Jack Perry spent the first part of his career as the young kid learning how to express himself and being primed for greatness at a time when he wasn’t really ready for it. It used to be a running joke for anyone who listened to Wrestling Observer Radio when Dave Meltzer would start humming and hawing about how Jungle Boy needs to win the title soon and needs more wins when everyone else could clearly see he still had work to do to develop himself.

Perry’s heel turn on HOOK and later his run as The Scapegoat had highs and lows, and certainly wasn’t a success in terms of getting Perry to the next level. That said, it was necessary to allow him to break outside the bubble “Jungle Boy” had been in to try and flex his muscles and become a better rounded character.

That run has allowed him to return to Jurassic Express and instead of re-entering the bubble he was stuck in? He can be so much more than that. He can be relied upon to carry a division now the way the Young Bucks and FTR have carried the tag team division in the past. Him and Luchasaurus were staples of what Brodido do now as AEW World Tag Team Champions in a big man and a quick man complimenting each other and filling each others blanks.

It works storyline wise to ensure their first opponents are The Young Bucks, who are technically going through their own renaissance having one of their best runs in AEW in years while also being bummed out, outside the tag title contention, and constantly running out of money. Hence the $500,000 stipulation. Bucks don’t really want to face Perry and Luchasaurus but they sure want to get flush again.

I think this has a high chance of being the best match on the show and I’m very much looking forward to seeing these two teams create absolute magic against each other.
