AEW Women’s World Championship
Timeless Toni Storm versus Kris Statlander (c)

It’s a time honoured tradition for the former champion to get their rematch against the new champion.
Sometimes this feels like a cheap way to just run the same match again, but in this case Kris Statlander won the Women’s World Championship in a four way match. This will be her first one on one against Timeless Toni Storm.
She needs to prove she can defeat Toni one on one.
Four way matches are actually a weakness for Toni lately. It was something I didn’t touch on in my preview of her match at All Out Toronto, even though I had Statlander winning. Toni’s last loss prior to All Out Toronto was a World Championship Eliminator Four Way when she was beaten by Mina Shirakawa.
But one on one? Toni hasn’t lost since her losing streak after she lost to Mariah May at All In London 2024. She followed that up with losses to Mayu Iwatani in Stardom and La Catalina in CMLL. Prior to that? Toni hadn’t lost a singles match since Hikaru Shida at Dynamite 200 and Saraya at Grand Slam 2023. That’s five singles losses in two years. That’s why she’s had a hold on the AEW Women’s World Championship for so much of that time.
Statlander hasn’t had as dominant of a run. Stat has been on a six match winning streak for one on one matches but she lost to Jamie Hayter in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament and two hard losses on Dynamite to Megan Bayne in 2025. In 2024 she took losses early to Riho and Skye Blue, as well as Willow Nightingale in the Owen, before ripping on a pretty strong winning streak in one on one matches bookended by two losses to Mercedes Moné in her attempt to win the TBS Championship back.
Storm has had five one on one losses in the past two years. Statlander eight. Both are extremely dominant in one on one matches but Storm clearly has the advantage.
Toni has also defeated a lot of the women Statlander has struggled against, especially Moné and Bayne. If you look at who Toni has lost against in those one on one’s? Two of them weren’t in AEW, two of them no longer work for AEW, and one has been on hiatus. Statlander has lost to competition in the company, and people who could be looking for shots in the future if she can hold onto the title.
So there’s a lot in Kris Statlander’s way to proving she didn’t get lucky at All Out Toronto. She isn’t just having to defeat the previous champion one on one, she then has to face women she hasn’t beaten in the past year who will surely be looking for rematches against the champion.
As for Toni Storm, it’s going to be a long tough road if she’s unable to get back her title. That road would be easier with a partner.
