Update 4/4/25: I have added Kyle Fletcher versus Mark Briscoe to this article as it was added late last night to the show.
AEW Dynasty 2025
Owen Hart Tournament
Quarter Final

I decided to put both announced Owen Hart Tournament Quarter Final matches for the men and women on Dynasty in one piece just due to the lack of build up for both matches. I will discuss the Owen Hart Tournament in more detail after Dynasty.
The tournament brackets for both the men and women was revealed last night on AEW Dynamite with so far two matches announced for Dynasty.
The finals of the Owen Hart Tournament will be held at Double or Nothing on May 25 in Glendale, Arizona. Those who win the Owen Hart Tournament much like last year will also earn title shots for their respective World Championship at Y’All In Texas.
Owen Hart Men’s Tournament Quarter Final
Will Ospreay versus Kevin Knight
What a debut it has been for Kevin Knight in All Elite Wrestling. After wrestling a hard fought match against Jay White, Knight was given the All Elite graphic from AEW President Tony Khan. He would work in a tag team match with Will Ospreay against Lee Johnson and Blake Christian, with Knight picking up the victory after a springboard lariat.
Following the victory, Tony Schiavone announced that Ospreay and Knight would be facing each other in the first round of the Owen at Dynasty due to Jay White being out due to injury.
It’s really unfortunate we won’t be getting Jay White and Will Ospreay as White will need surgery on an injured hand. It is however an open door for Kevin Knight, and I’m sure he plans to take this as serious as Komander did getting the spot in the Continental Classic to replace Juice Robinson. Dang. Bullet Club Gold might be cursed.
Despite being a great opportunity for Kevin Knight, Will Ospreay is a definite favourite to win this tournament. It doesn’t matter who ends up the champion after Dynasty. We have had two All In’s main evented by a babyface versus babyface match, and if it’s Jon Moxley still as champion? Will Ospreay would be a great choice to beat him.
I don’t expect to see a major upset here, but this is more about giving Knight an unexpected spotlight as a new debut for AEW against one of the best they have on pay per view. It’s also the beginning of what might be Ospreay’s first climb to the top of the AEW mountain.
Owen Hart Women’s Tournament Quarter Final
Mercedes Moné versus Julia Hart
Having Mercedes in this tournament is interesting. I don’t know if the goal is for her to win and face Toni Storm in a title for title situation, or if Athena is going to cost her this tournament and lead to their one on one match. I’ve wanted to see Athena versus Mercedes Moné at Y’All In Texas since it was first announced. While there have been rumours it will happen at Double or Nothing, that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t happen again at Y’All In Texas.
Julia Hart lost the TBS Championship at Dynasty 2024 and then was out for the rest of the year, only returning for the Casino Gauntlet on January 25, 2025. She has worked five singles matches since with three wins and two losses, the losses coming against Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata.
It’s good for Julia to work someone like Mercedes, even if this is a likely loss for her. It seems like Athena and Mercedes are on a collision course with each other, as both are on the same side of the bracket. Athena should make easy work out of Harley Cameron, and Mercedes should finish off Athena. That would lead to Mercedes and Athena squaring off, which is likely to be a bigger match than the final of the Owen tournament.
My hope is that Julia gets some experience working with Mercedes, as she has definitely lost her place on the card after losing the TBS Championship. She could probably use some independent/excursion work if she wants to be in the same spot she was in before. Mercedes has absolutely raised the bar on the TBS Championship from when Julia held it.
Owen Hart Men’s Tournament Quarter Final
Kyle Fletcher versus Mark Briscoe

Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe are no strangers to each other. While people are better to remember Fletcher defeating Mark in the Continental Classic, it was only six months prior that Mark Briscoe defeated Kyle Fletcher to retain the ROH Men’s World Championship. That match took place in Allentown, Pennsylvania not far from where the Liacouras Center is located in Philadelphia.
The right side of the bracket is the most interesting for the men in the Owen Hart Tournament. Not only do you have this match, but you also have Hangman Adam Page facing a Wildcard. I would be cool with Hangman winning and facing Mark Briscoe or Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher might be the most interesting as I’ve never seen it before and it would be a true babyface versus heel match. I guess that one will depend on who the Wild Card ends up.
I’ve already heard people groan seeing Ospreay and Fletcher on opposite sides again much like the Continental Classic and worry they will once again go up against each other. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but I do think AEW wants you to think it could. I think that feud is over for now.
As for Mark, I’m just happy he’s getting a PPV spot even if it’s a match thrown together less than a week prior to the pay per view. He’s always a hard worker and has done a lot of work to get himself over as a solo act. Good hands like Mark Briscoe deserve a little shine so people know the hard work is appreciated.
