AEW Continental Championship
Kyle O’Reilly versus Jon Moxley (c)

It appears some are finally waking up to a truth I had told you all back in April: Jon Moxley is a pro wrestling terrorist.
This man lives and breathes pro wrestling. It’s admirable. Having a happy Jon Moxley is having a happy company. It also means he’s gonna be on your TV screen constantly and he’s going to be one of the most protected, strongest pushed wrestlers. Mostly because he deserves it, but you can understand how that will wear down on someone.
Jon Moxley hasn’t lost a singles match in 2026. His last loss came when we were wondering if he was going full donut in the 2025 Continental Classic against Konosuke Takeshita. He got his win back at Revolution. He also lost to Claudio in the C2, and right before that? Lost to Kyle O’Reilly at Full Gear.
Kyle was really building something in 2025 before his injury in being the guy who could neutralize Jon Moxley. Beat him in Blood and Guts, won by DQ against him, Mox had to go double countout just to get a draw against him. Now he draws in a Continental Championship Eliminator and gets a title shot.
I’ve seen people wonder why KOR had to do an Eliminator for this match. It’s pretty funny how things flip between the belts. You got people questioning what Sammy Guevara and Speedball Mike Bailey have done to deserve an AEW Men’s World Championship but Kyle O’Reilly, who hadn’t wrestled or won a singles match this year? They wonder why he needs to earn a shot. Just because he beat Mox in a match six months ago before he was champion.
So we got a man who rarely loses, hasn’t lost this year, going up against the guy who seemed to have his number last year. A man already holding the Trios Championship (not that has ever mattered to AEW) against a man more focused on building Will Ospreay up for the 2026 Owen Hart Tournament.
If things are going to go the way I think they are going to go? Jon Moxley’s focus on Will Ospreay is all about expecting something in return for all the work he has done in turning Ospreay into a killer. Into a man who could one day be AEW Men’s World Champion. His aspirations are on something higher than just being AEW Continental Champion.
That should show the hand of a Kyle O’Reilly win. He’s got the advantages on Moxley, Moxley’s focus is divided with Ospreay, and one could say Moxley is due for a loss after his quiet rampage on the roster at this point.
Except that’s just the thing. Jon Moxley is a wrestling terrorist. He lives and breathes this more than anyone else. He wakes up with the smell of the ring canvas under his lip or he doesn’t wake up at all. Do you really think you’re just going to stop that guy because you took him to a draw a few days before the pay per view?
That’s why we hold predictions for the predictions article. This is just a preview. Not just for the pay per view, but a preview for the future of AEW. The Death Riders might have not kept their death grip on AEW like they had in 2025. Moxley is no longer king of the lands. But there’s ways to take control without being in power.
We’re seeing it.
